I was born, work and live with my partner and four cats in Brooklyn Heights. I have a BFA from the School Of Visual Arts in Illustration, and a MFA in communication arts from the New York Institute of Technology.
After spending my early years illustrating best sellers including “The Grass is always Greener Over The Septic Tank”, and freelancing for magazines, such as Scholastic, and advertising agency campaigns like Cure-aid bandaids, I decided to fulfill another goal and enter the fine arts arena. I became an abstract painter, exhibiting in New York and internationally, as well as working on commissions for private and corporate clients. Museums exhibited and acquired my work. I received a Pollock Krasner Foundation Grant and was awarded art residences and fulfilled another goal of mine, to teach art in colleges.
I had a great time.
However, I felt I was missing something. I missed telling stories: drawing people and painting life around me. So I decided to go back to my roots. Illustration. Additionally, I have included both writing and illustrating Graphic Novels into my practice.
I’ve completed a commissioned one of a kind artist book called “Lush”. It’s a graphic novel of short stories, completely visual. My materials are graphite, ink, color pencil, and gouache.
I’m still having a great time.
